COMPANY PRINCIPAL
Paul Rottenberg, Company Principal and FireStats Instructor
Paul
Rottenberg is the president of FireStats, LLC., and has been performing
statistical analyses for municipal fire departments since 1999. Mr.
Rottenberg has been working for over 20 years as a consultant to
business and government, providing analysis and public policy support
to cities, special districts, and public contractors throughout the
United States. In addition to FireStats’ work in the Fire Service, Paul
has been involved in a large variety of environmental and public works
projects over the course of his career -- including several years of
work as the principle economist on a $500 million,
internationally-funded environmental project in East Asia involving
mechanical, chemical, hydraulic and civil engineering, gas to energy,
waste water treatment, maritime services, exchange rate modeling, and
funding from disparate sources such as the US Export/Import Bank, the
United Nations, US Department of State and the World Bank.
Paul
has broad experience in managing data-related projects, including data
migration, database development and implementation of reporting
systems. He brings that experience to the Fire Service along with a
strong understanding of local government procedures, public policy and
the reality of how fire departments actually work.
Paul
earned his MBA from the University of San Francisco and studied
economics as an undergraduate at Georgetown University in Washington,
D.C. He received his Bachelors degree from San Francisco State
University, and took additional undergraduate studies at the University
of California, Berkeley. He is a deignated subject matter expert in
deployment analysis at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, MD, and
works regularly for the Center for Public Safety Excellence.
Paul
spent ten years as a paid-call firefighter/apparatus operator/EMT with
small municipal combination fire department in the Northern California
Sierra foothills and keeps his certifications current including
Firefighter I, Class B CDL, EMT, certifications in Hazmat, et. al..
ASSOCIATES
John Fesenko , FireStats Senior Programmer/Analyst
Mr.
Fesenko is the principal statistician and computer programmer for
FireStats. John is a highly accomplished scientist who brings both
academic and healthcare-sector expertise to the analysis of Fire
Service data. John has a Masters of Science degree in biology from the
Massachusettes Institute of Technology where his emphasis in course
work and lab research was on neurobiology. His Bachelors of Science
degree is in biochemistry from Rutgers University, also with an
emphasis on cognition and neurochemistry. In addition to his work for
FireStats, John works for a major research hoispital developing
programming and analysis for neurobiologicl and neurochemical research
studies. John resides in the San Francisco Bay Area where he and Paul
Rottenberg meet weekly to review project status.
Paul Wickman, FireStats Senior GIS Programmer/Analyst
Mr. Wickman is the principal GIS programmer and mapping applications
developer for FireStats. As the Senior GIS Consultant for
Northstar Geographics Paul is versed in all major commercial
and open source GIS and database environments including ESRI,
MapServer, PostGIS and Autodesk MapGuide. Paul has a proven
background in web-based GIS application development and works closely
with John Fesenko and Paul Rottenberg in creating spatially-based,
user-defined statistical queries which form the core of all
FireStats’ web tools. Paul has a Masters of Science
degree in Geographic Information Science from the University of
Minnesota and a Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Science
from Carroll University. In addition to the work
at FireStats, Northstar Geographics specializes in application
geographic analysis and web application development for environmental
engineering, geotechnical/mining and the responsible management of
land, water and wildlife resources.
Gary Habeeb, FireStats Associate
Gary
Habeeb is a technology manager for a county-wide school system in
Northern California. Gary has a Bachelors Degree in Biology and a
Masters Degree in Education. Gary works principally in data migration,
the integration of wireless technologies with legacy systems,
networking and system security. He has a strong background and
experience in statistics and mathematics education and has taught
mathematics and science at the secondary level for over 20 years.
Joseph Reisdorf, FireStats Associate
Joseph
Reisdorf is an engineer specializing in data management projects and
statistical analysis for government agencies. Joseph has been involved
in data project management and statistics for over 25 years and counts
among his specialties data migration and the internal architecture of
data bases. Joseph has a Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering and
has worked with FireStats' principal, Paul Rottenberg, since 1999.
